The Porsche Cayenne emits up to 378g/km of CO2

Porsche has officially applied to the High Court of Justice for a judicial review challenging the Mayor of London's plans to increase the city's Congestion Charge for high-polluting vehicles to £25 per day.
Porsche says the charge is 'illegal and disproportionate' and goes on to say that the move will not decrease pollution or congestion.
Porsche has asked the court to expedite the judicial proceedings given the short timeframe in which the new charge is scheduled to be imposed.
The judicial review began in February, when Porsche outlined its opposition to the charge. Porsche has now taken the next step in the judicial review process by filing its challenge with the High Court.
Commenting on the filing, Andy Goss, Managing Director of Porsche Cars GB, said, “Not only is this new tax on motorists unfair, it is also a disproportionate and illegal use of power by the mayor. 'The Porsche case is about protecting London and Londoners from a new tax that will not only fail to reduce CO2 emissions in central London, but also increase congestion and damage air quality.”
Porsche has raised eyebrows with its sudden commitment to environmental causes.
The move comes on the back of an ICM poll in today's Guardian newspaper which show Mayor Ken Livingstone virtually neck-and-neck with challenger Boris Johnson. Johnson is currently leading with 42% of London voters, against 41% who favour Livingstone.
Both candidates have been hit with difficulties: while Livingstone has had to deal with the unwelcome diversion of a luxury car manufacturer, Johnson has had to reject the support of the British National Party.
Livingstone has responded to Porsche dismissively to Porsche's legal challenge: "Porsche's self-serving legal action shows their continuing contempt for the views of Londoners.
"Porsche should be using its engineering expertise to create low polluting cars, not its lawyers to oppose the democratic wishes of Londoners.
"Londoners, not car manufacturers, should be the ones to decide how to tackle pollution in their city. I will vigorously contest Porsche's legal action."

Euro Car Parts has acquired Pinco 1555 Ltd, including all 53 of LSUK's 53 branches, together with subsidiaries M I Diesel Products, Protech Automotive (UK) and Yeovil Rewind.

Fuel protests similar to those that brought the UK to a halt in 2000 are being planned by a breakaway group of disaffected hauliers, according to press reports.

Euro Car Parts has put out a statement on the closure of LSUK, stating that a closure of the business was unavoidable due to a 'lack of support'.

LSUK, thought to have been rescused by Euro Car Parts, has been unexpectedly closed by the new owners with the loss of over 600 jobs.
