With individual vehicles environmental credibilities continuing to become one of the factors most influencing buyers of new cars in 2008, Peugeot are the latest manufacturer to post news that its low-emission producing 107 B-segment supermini has seen UK sales increase by 16% during last month alone.Reports for March indicate that a collective 3,485 of the smallest, greenest Pugs on the market found new homes with eco-conscious car buyers, with the clincher more than likely being the fact that its CO2 emission of 109 g/km meant the little French fancy sits in Tax Band B.
Escalating fuel costs are causing growing concern amongst new car buyers, with diesel sales also on the increase last month – a recorded 2.2% rise of oil-burners compared to the same time last year.With many company car drivers historically sold on diesels, Peugeot simultaneously announced notable increments in its fleet sales resultant from the manufacturers prevalence of diesel variants found across its present range. With the additional introduction of its 308 family hatchback, combined sales in this arena witnessed an 11.5% rise to 6,803 in the first quarter.Meanwhile, Peugeot are gearing up to unleash its rather meaty 308 GT THP 175 in June, a car that offers UK customers plenty of poke to go with its miserly fuel-sipping, alongside of its forthcoming SW that promises seven-seat possibilities in conjunction with an impressive panoramic sunroof.
