Skoda's Fabia cake advert scooped four gongs
Published: 31 March 2008
Skoda has won a Gold Award for its Fabia Cake advert, showing a team of expert bakers fashioning a supermini from a variety of confectionary.
Skoda picked up four gongs for the advert, including: Best 30-60 Second Commercial, the John Webster Award for Best 30 Second Commercial, European Advertising and Cars at the British Television Advertising Awards.
The cake advert features the tagline 'Full of lovely stuff', and has gone around the world via video sites such as Youtube.
Volkswagen's Night Driving advert, which blends Richard Burton's reading of Under Milk Wood with a soundtrack by Cliff Martinez and asks viewers 'When was the last time you just went for a drive?', won Silver awards for Cars and Best 60-90-second TV commercial.
VW's Toy Story won a Silver award for the Cinema category. The Toy Story video is part of Volkswagen's sponsorship of independent cinemas, encouraging people to see films differently.
Mary Newcombe, Head of Marketing for Skoda, said: “The concept for the advert was so different and yet so fitting for the Fabia that it has been a real success. Fallon did a fantastic job by pushing the boundaries of creativity and using a simple idea of baking a cake to get our messages across to the consumer.”
The British Television Advertising Awards began in 1976 to recognise and reward the best television and cinema commercials made by British advertising agencies and production companies.
