Lexus RX400h SR - from £37,505
Published: 17 March 2008
Shoehorned into the current Lexus 4X4 range somewhere between the RX 400h and 400h SE, fans of hybrid-powered luxury SUV'ing will notice that there's change afoot as from today – 17 March – with the RX400h SR model. The sort of change that doesn't have an adverse effect on your wealth either.
Being the UK's sole representative in the hybrid-powered luxury SUV arena doesn't mean the Lexus can afford to rest on its laurels. So the Japanese manufacturer of all things swish has engaged in a spot of house-keeping.
Which to the buyer begins (and ends) with a so-discreet-you-wouldn't-notice-it-unless-you-impaled-yourself-on-it body-colour-camouflaged rear spoiler that appears along the top edge of the rear spoiler and some magpie-magnetizing shiny roof rails.
Making advanced level Sudoku look easy, if you concentrate hard enough the driver will notice some new-style floor mats inside. Oh, and the option of really pushing the boat out and matching grey leather to black wood should you choose.
Standard kit of the current Lexus RX400h range already includes multi-zone climate, air-con, heated front seats that give the driver eight options of comfort and a mathematical equation masquerading as split-folding rear seat action.
Options however include touch-screen multimedia that allows you to find your way to places, speak to people en route and park once you get there, plus, let's your rear seat passengers in on things too via twin-seat-back large screen DVD player-cum-this-cum-that-cum-the-other.
The Lexus RX400h SR comes in the resplendent exterior metallics of Tyrol Silver, Cadoxton Slate, Astral Black and Brechin Slate, complimented by the interior hue and saturations of either Sussex or Pembroke Black leather wear.
The OTR price is £37,505, increased by a fiver on the introduction of the increased first registration fee on 1 April 2008.
