Stablemate to the Freelander 2 canters into sight
Published: 31 March 2008
The
Freelander 2 Commercial is introduced this month – priced from £20,775
OTR – following demand from Land Rover customers for a van version of
the small off-roader.
The
latest debutant in the compact 4x4 commercial segment will flash its
wares for the first time in public at the Commercial Vehicle Show at
Birmingham's NEC from April 15 – 17.
Available
in the two versions – both sharing the current Freelander's 2.2-litre
TD4 oil-burning engine - the Halewood built 'S' and 'XS' versions will
offer the equivalent trim-level as the Freelander 2, less the
obligatory rear seats and side airbags.
The
Freelander 2 Commercial S gains infrastructure-reinforcing measures
such as: mesh-incorporating full-height solid bulkhead; floor support
frame; floor panel with lashing points; fixed rear side glass and tail
door and side window guards.
The
Freelander 2 Commercial XS (£25,595) adds Terrain Response system, 17”
rims, electric folding mirrors, front park distance control,
half-leather, automated climate and accomplished ICE over the 'S'.
The Freelander 2 Commercial is VAT and company car-tax exempt due to its defiant stance as an out-and-out commercial vehicle.
