The Peugeot 308 SW will debut at the Geneva Motor Show in March, replacing the 307 mini-estate model.
The 308 SportsWagon will go on sale in the UK this summer with larger panoramic glass roof, easier-to-use seat modularity and opening rear tailgate glass. The 308 SW can be equipped with up to seven airbags, including a steering column airbag.
The 308 SW replaces the 307 SW, which has sold 40,000 models in the UK since launching in April 2002.
All rear seats are now individual, easy to remove and identical in size, says Peugeot, while two occasional rear seats can also be fitted in the third row - taking capacity up to a possible seven.
Access to the boot is provided by the rear tailgate or the opening rear tailgate glass, while load volume is up to 674 litres under the rear load cover with the second row of seats in place, extending to 2,149 litres up to the level of the roof with seats removed.
The wheelbase of the 308 SW has been increased by 100 mm and the rear overhang by 124 mm over the 308 hatchback.
The 308 SW is available with a wide choice of petrol and diesel engines and manual or auto transmissions which, combined with the car’s aerodynamics, weight saving measures and the use of Michelin Energy Saver tyres, reduce fuel consumption by up to 10% compared to the 307 SW.
Suspension set-up and wheel size options have been borrowed from the 308 hatchback but revised to meet the of the SW version.
The 308 SW range will go on sale in the UK in June, with prices announced nearer the launch date. An estate model will follow in Autumn.
