Better used values predicted for Mitsu Lancer and Evo X
Published: 29 February 2008
Impressive industry depreciation figures will accelerate claims that Mitsubishi's all new four-door Lancer is set to gain valuable ground on the five-door hatches such as the Honda Civic.
Residual calculations carried out by UK car industry experts has been completed on both the new Mitsubishi Lancer and the high-powered Evo X sports saloon which makes for compulsive reading for the Japanese manufactures engineers and designers as much as it does to the UK car buyer.
Predicted residual values of 37% after a three year/60,000 mile period of ownership on the new Lancer 1.8 petrol and 2.0 diesel models represents substantial value for money motoring.
By combining the lowest ever forecast servicing costs (£200 for the three year Mitsubishi Service Plan) and a service interval extended from 9,000 to 12,500 miles over the Lancer's predecessor then UK Mitsubishi customers are set to be hit with a cost-cutting double-whammies throughout their Lancer ownership.
It's suggested that the Evo X will punch at an even higher weight, with a 39% residual value after three years/60,000 miles.
The lowest-ever servicing costs recorded for this make and model (£400 for the three year MSP) and a service interval range more than doubled over its predecessor from 4,500 to 10,000 miles are the parts that add up to the sum total.
Will Honda be worried? No.

LSUK, thought to have been rescused by Euro Car Parts, has been unexpectedly closed by the new owners with the loss of over 600 jobs.
