Nissan GT-R - expect to pay £60K
Published: 26 October 2007
Nissan has officially launched the new GT-R supercar, which will be available to buy in Japan from December 2007.
The 473bhp GT-R is powered by a twin-turbo 3.8-litre V6 that develops 434lb-ft of torque from 3,200rpm to 5,200rpm through four-wheel drive and a six-speed dual-clutch automatic paddleshift gearbox.
The GT-R will top out at 194mph and blasts to 60mph from standstill in 3.5 seconds.
The four-wheel drive transaxle is the first application of such a system in the world, placing the clutch at the rear middle of the car to maintain weight balance.
Nissan says the GT-R - known as the Skyline in Japan - has been developed to take all road and weather conditions in its stride, without affecting driving experience.
A Bilstein DampTronic system, handles suspension duties while Brembo brakes stop the GT-R´s 473bhp in its tracks.
Safety kit consists of driver and front passenger SRS Air Bag System, front seat belts with tension reducer, front seat belts with load limiter, and three-point rear seat belts.
Driving dynamics can be altered to adjust transmission shifts, shock absorbers and the Vehicle Dynamic Control in three settings – Normal, Comfort or R, the high-performance setting designed for the GT-R “supercar” application.
The GT-R has primarily made its way into the UK as an import, but you can expect to see in on our shores by Spring 2009 with a price tag of around £60,000.
Expect massive interest in the GT-R, from customers and rivals.
