SEAT has displayed its most economical and lowest-emissions production car in the shape of the Ibiza Ecomotive at the Frankfurt Motor Show.
The Ibiza Ecomotive is set to go on sale in the UK next year with ‘ultra low CO emissions and fuel consumption’. Prices will be confirmed closer to the car’s on-sale date.
The Ecomotive boasts carbon dioxide emissions of 99g/km, ensuring the Ibiza Ecomotive will escape the London Congestion Charge under the terms of new proposals as well as road tax, as it fits into the tax-exempt VED Band ‘A’. SEAT says the model can return 74.3mpg on the combined cycle.
The existing Ibiza 1.4-litre TDI on which the new model is based has been improved due to changes to the car’s ECU, while particulate emissions are further reduced through the fitment of a Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF). Additionally, gear ratios have been lengthened.
The Ibiza Ecomotive is also more aerodynamic, with a drag coefficient lower than the standard 1.4 TDI model, while new tyres creating less friction have been added.
SEAT says the Ibiza Ecomotive could tour from Calais to St Tropez (approximately 735 miles) on just one tank of diesel.
Frugal motoring from SEAT.
