The Citroen C-Crosser SUV is now available to buy in the UK.
The C-Crosser SUV represents Citroen’s first foray into the segment and is based on the Mitsubishi Outlander, as is sister-company’s Peugeot 4007 SUV.
The C-Crosser will add a PSA Peugeot-Citroen 2.2-litre common-rail diesel engine with diesel particulate filter through a six-speed manual gearbox.
Citroen says the C-Crosser is capable of almost 40mpg on the combined cycle, emitting 191g/km of CO2. The engine can also run on 30% biodiesel without any modification.
The 156bhp lump develops 280lb-ft of torque at 2000rpm, powering the C-Crosser to 62mph in under 10 seconds and on to a top speed of 124mph.
The SUV can be driven in 2WD, 4WD or Full Lock for exceptionally low-grip situations.
Two trims will be offered: VTR+ with automatic aircon, six airbags, alarm, a 5+2 seating configuration, cruise control, automatic headlamps and ABS and ESP with traction control.
Exclusive trim adds leather upholstery, rear parking sensors, 18” alloys and a 6 CD autochanger.
Recommended retail prices are £22,790 for the VTR+ and £25,490 for the Exclusive.
Citroen says the C-Crosser presents a deliberately non-aggressive design for the SUV market.
Both models feature a 5+2 seating configuration. Two buttons allow the second-row seats to be electronically folded forwards
The rear-bench seats can be folded away under the floor, while the second row of seating also slides and reclines for greater comfort.
Maximum boot capacity is 510 litres with five seats in place, extending to 1,686 litres with all the rear seats folded away.
The lower section of the C-Crosser’s two-piece tailgate can be dropped down to lower the sill to 600mm, doubling as a bench capable of supporting loads of up to 200kg.
Safety consists of six airbags along with ABS, EBD and ESP with traction control.
