Rick Wakeman group bids for TVR

A consortium that includes Rick Wakeman has tabled a bid for the factory and workforce at Blackpool-based manufacturer TVR.
Melling Sports Cars has pledged to continue production of TVR sports cars Sagaris and Griffiths in Blackpool, though it views the workforce as the key asset.
Al Melling, heading the group, has previously designed TVR engines and has stated that he believes that production would start in the summer if the Melling bid is successful.
A bid is believed to have been launched by 24-year-old former owner Nikolai Smolenski.
Trades Unions representing TVR’s workforce have welcomes the bid.
The outcome will be announced on 23rd February, with the bid that gives the best financial return to creditors winning the bidding process.
