The all new Volvo C70 coupe/convertible has won the Convertible/Roadster cateogry at the 2006 British Insurance Car Security Awards.
The awards are based on New Vehicle Security Ratings (NVSR) and have the aim of raising consumer awareness of vehicle security. They also recognise manufacturers´ efforts to make more secure cars and are supported by British Motor Insurers, the Home Office, the Department for Transport and other key stakeholders.
The three piece metal roof on the Volvo C70 folds away in 30 seconds and offers greater security than it´s soft-top premium competitors and also comprises an anti-theft alarm, immobiliser, volume sensor and level sensor.
Other security features include deadlocks, visible VIN plate and a panic button on the key fob. Adding to the impressive list of safety gadgets, is the recent introduction ´Volvo On Call´. An optional in car telematics system, it provides an SOS button to directly call the emergency services if required, and also if it senses that an airbag has been deployed.
MD of Volvo Car UK Ltd, Hugh Reid said : "Volvo is delighted to receive another award in this year’s British Insurance Car Security Awards. Security is another important and more personal example, of Volvo’s commitment to the highest standards of safety, quality and design, and this award will give the all-new Volvo C70 coupe/convertible even more of an advantage over its rivals."

Euro Car Parts has acquired Pinco 1555 Ltd, including all 53 of LSUK's 53 branches, together with subsidiaries M I Diesel Products, Protech Automotive (UK) and Yeovil Rewind.

Fuel protests similar to those that brought the UK to a halt in 2000 are being planned by a breakaway group of disaffected hauliers, according to press reports.

Euro Car Parts has put out a statement on the closure of LSUK, stating that a closure of the business was unavoidable due to a 'lack of support'.

LSUK, thought to have been rescused by Euro Car Parts, has been unexpectedly closed by the new owners with the loss of over 600 jobs.
