Bentley lose £1m despite rising sales

Despite rising sales of its new models, Bentley Motors, which has its base in Crewe, has released figures that show that the luxury marque lost around £1m over the last year.
Bought by Volkswagen in the late nineties, Bentley has had a resurgence in popularity over the last few years, with celebrities like Paris Hilton and David Beckham making it the car of choice for celebrities who want to show off their status and taste.
Turnover at the company rose from £636m in 2004 to £822.8m in 2005, with the company´s pension deficit dropping from 2004’s £110m to £89.7m. However the figures released don´t tell the whole story as they don´t include Bentleys biggest market - the USA. A spokesman for the company said that if those figures had been included, Bentley would have been in profit last year.
