Pink Kangoos for Ladies-Only taxicabs.

The UK’s first women-only private hire franchise, Pink Ladies has chosen Kangoo car for its fleet of vehicles in what other colour than bright pink! Pink Ladies launched with 14 eye-catching Kangoo’s, complete with pink leather trim throughout, in Warrington with the first franchise going live this October in St Helens. More franchises will follow across the UK during 2006 – ranging from as far north as Inverness all the way to Brighton – with each starting with at least six pink Kangoo cars. Popular celebrity Kerry Katona was on hand to officially help launch Pink Ladies. The vehicles will be driven by women, for women and Pink Ladies operates as an exclusive members-only private hire service, only accepting female passengers. The service, which has personal safety as a top priority, is the brainchild of Tina Dutton and Andrea Winders who came up with the idea following a conversation with her daughter who expressed how much she disliked being the last one in a taxi on the way home as well as publicity over attacks on female passengers using some unlicensed taxi cabs. Ladies pay just £1 to join Pink Ladies (with 10% of membership profits going towards Breast Cancer Care) and once they have their membership number, a customer can book one of the pink Kangoo cars to take them on their journey. Ensuring optimum safety, Pink Ladies employs brand new technology which sends a text to the customer to advise them their vehicle is approaching eliminating the need for customers to wait outside. Andrea Winders, director of Pink Ladies said "We particularly chose the Renault Kangoo because of its accessibility, luggage capacity and reliability. We have many members with wheelchairs and find that the Kangoo copes excellently whatever the situation." Tina Dutton, Pink Ladies co-director added, "We must thank dealer Arnold Clark and Renault for their support and advice in managing the transformation of the cars from standard Kangoos to our beautiful pink fleet. Nigel Smart, Arnold Clark’s local fleet sales manager, has been so helpful that we call him our honorary Pink Lady (although this does not allow him in our cars!)" Despite being easy to spot with their vivid, attention-grabbing pink exterior and interior, all of the Kangoo’s are fitted with state-of-the-art GPRS vehicle tracking, satellite navigation and panic alert which all contribute towards the safe service provided by Pink Ladies ensuring its female passengers can travel in comfort.
The Kangoo’s are fitted with Renault’s much acclaimed 1.5 dCi 80 engine and were originally in Venture trim (pre-pink leather!) which includes electric front windows, 180 degree opening boot door, 2 x 15W single CD RDS radio with fingertip remote control as standard. Interior space is another plus of the Kangoo especially when carrying passengers for maximum comfort. The Kangoo Venture also comes equipped with trim just as stylish and luxurious as the pink with Specific ‘Venture’ wheel stylers and seat trim, body coloured bumpers and body coloured door mirrors amongst its many features. Customers interested in becoming a member of Pink Ladies and obtaining further information on the service can visit www.pinkladiesmembers.co.uk, or telephone 0845 124 7465.
