LSUK, thought to have been rescued by Euro Car Parts, has been unexpectedly closed by the new owners with the loss of over 600 jobs.
Euro Car Parts Sheffield-based LSUK last week from holding company Pinco 1555 Ltd, claiming that 680 jobs would be saved in the process.
But LSUK staff tuned up to work on Monday to find gates locked and notes informing them that they were unemployed.
The notice said: "It is with great regret and due to unforeseen and exceptional circumstances beyond our control that with effect from Monday 6 October this branch will cease to trade."
Euro Car Parts has placed LSUK into administration with immediate effect, citing a lack of funding support.
An administrator is believed to be in contact with several interested parties for LSUK.
A number of LSUK employees have left comments on MotorTorque.com expressing their anger and bewilderment at the events.
In a statement ECP said: “Unfortunately, it became clear, very quickly, that it was simply going to be impossible to continue with investment without the required support, which was not forthcoming.
"After a considerable amount of non-stop work and investment into LSUK over the past five days, the ECP directors realised that they had no option but to place LSUK into administration with immediate effect."
Staff have indicated that Euro Car Parts changed locks to offices and cancelled meeting with representatives.
Euro Car Parts has indicated that administrators Tenon will keep employees informed of further information.

NOTHING UNUSUAL HERE
ECP CANT GET OWN WAY SO THEN THEY PULL OUT CARING FOR NO ONE EXCEPT THEMSELVES
. . As the main supplier to the AA . things are looking a little shaky !!
as a partner of one of the branch managers this has come as a complete shock to everybody and has affected 1000s of people. Willie, obviously you have had a bad experience with one or two branches not every branch. All staff are gutted, as are their families. Most staff have been there for many many years.
Have dealt with lsuk and lucas over the years and always found them very professional in solving problems not the cheapest but the best one asks the question how was the takeover sanctioned if the finance was not in place to sustain the buissness this apears to be a substantial loss to the UK aftermarket support network the new owners ECP would be foolish to assume the trade will return to them as suppliers
Tuesday 30th september,LSUK staf were instructed to get new keys cut and send them to the head office along with the alarm codes, the reson given been 'the new owners will be visiting the branches out of working hours'.
Little did they know that these keys would play a part in geting themselves locked out on monday morning. As for the redunant LSUK workes , things could have been worse they could have ended up working for this crowd
Very sorry for all the staff, but lsuk is best left dead. it has never been a well run company.
Bad news for the staff & families, I hope somebody has a look at the this deal, its ok ecp blaming suppliers, but they bought the company free of debt & expect suppliers to take it on the chin while they cream in the profits. tough ecp..... i hope you lost a few quid.
this is serious, and regardless who is to blame a serious investigation needs to be launched. looking at everyone involved, inc ECP and find out how this has happened. it seems LSUK have been well and truly shafted... and thats not fair!!!
hi shed girl i worked for lucas lsuk from aug 1970 tillnov 2002 i can only speek from experiance
although lsuk a competitor haved used them and always helpful and friendly. hope all your customers do not shaft you as well and think twice before they use ecp. hope you all get jobs soon.
Not suprised with ECPs behaviour! Think twice before you get involved with ECP is my advice.
lsuk have been a basket case for years ,any supplier new the risk they where taking ,thats business its no good moaning now ,bet if they where still trading everybody would be saying its only a matter of time but still sending goods out to them, they got what they deserved

would aa buy lsuk?
as a branch manager i can only tell you of the shock i have seen and sadness on my staff faces monday morning we have nearly 100 years service with lucas/lsuk between us and to be treated like this is beyond words ECP need brining to task over this before some other poor sods have to put up with singh!!
Firstly I am sorry to hear about all these Job Losses.
But ECP have previously purchased failed companies and turned them around.
Ecp purchased A.R.E when i worked for them. It went into administration and ECP paid all the staff there wages that were due from the old owners, they did not have to but they did out of courtesy .There is more to this story then we are being told and they would not have purposly tarnished there name unless there were some seroius underlying problems.
You would hardly send out loads press releases and website statements if you intended to 5 days later sink the company,, you would do it on the Q.T!
i had worked for lsuk for 15 years, they way we have been treated is disgusting ive a mortgage and 2 young children and no other income coming in! ECP should be ashamed of what they have done and i hope our customers do not trade with them!
Oh Willie you are a sad bitter man. Are you still trying to save the world. It was because of people like you with your militant attitude that we did not progress.
hi fudge i am indeed a sad and bitter man and yes im still trying to save the world however i cant be blamed for the lack of progress i have not been there for six years as you know i hope you and the rest of the lads on the valley get sorted as quickly as i did best of luck
I worked for lsuk between 2000 and 2004 and was shocked to hear the closure on the news. Sad to hear the loss of jobs i have many good friends from lsuk.
just crap. pointless going over it all now. its gone. all the best and hope you all get something sorted out soon.
I can see ECP buying lucrative sites from the administators cheap then profiting from selling the others. This way ECP have expanded BIG time getting exactly the sites the couldnt get.
Good Luck to you all in finding a job! Will miss all my work collegues and talking to the branches. G @ CC
Mr Singh paid our wages for LAST MONTH, LSUK Management got us in to administration, all the directors and senior managers milked the company, they sold us down the river, but they will sleep happily with wages the company could not afford.
I Know Mr Singh, He is a good man, he would help any one out of trouble.. He will be hurting like you never believe. ECP is a well run company, i feel for all those out there, but i know mr singh he will rescue many jobs and will turn things around.
people are trying to buy up parts of this company but are not meeting with much help from administrators as they go onto a helpline number and previously did not get return calls from afore mentioned people want to help ex staff but how long will they wait
Why did Shaun and the others leave it so late?
Why did ECP promise so much and then drop us like a hot brick?
Why ask for the keys on the first full day of ownership if the intention was to keep us open?
Why allow management to run up large bills on their expenses that won´t be paid?
Why did ECP change the locks at their expense if the business was going into admin anyway?
It´s time for both parties to tell us the truth, we are not all dead heads!!!
Why did LSUK senior management leave it so laye to find a buyer?
Why did ECP promise the earth and then ask for keys the following day?
Why did ECP change all the locks at their expense if the business was either in or going into admin on Sunday a.m?
Is it because he´s transferred ownership of a load of the assets to his company and wants to protect them?
Answers please from both parties, no more bull...just the truth, there were some bloody good people in the company who deserved a lot better. Oh, and to the dissenters like Willie who like to generalise all humanity based on a single personal experience, BUTT OUT !!!!
Do you think that ECP are now supplying LSUK´s ex-clients?
just to wish all X Lsuk staff all the best for the future and hope we all find better jobs very quickly.
as a garage owner who uses ECP for alot of my service items i promise its the last penny they will get from my company, utter terrible the way they have done this !!!
It´s sad the way things have turned out. I´ve never used LSUK for parts, only ECP. But, I feel ECP could have handled things differently. I really feel for all the folk who lost their jobs as a result.
best of luck to all those from the poole branch. i hope it is bought out and you all get your jobs back.
best of luck.
Cars to the left vans to the right into the valley of jobless walked the 600.
Forward the Lucas Brigade, these workers are dismayed. Not so that we would know. Someone at the top had blundered.
No one there to make reply.Theirs not no reason why. Just 53 branches raided and plundered. Batteries gone to the right of them. Bulbs gone to the left of them. Boldly we walked to get our things. Into the warehouse of no return walked the 600.
We had all worked so hard and long. Sold down the river for a song... Into the dole queue walked the 600.
I have recently seen Quinton Hazell recruiting jobs within their Product Marketing department if anyone is interested? QH tel: 01455 899200. Hope this is of use!
Compared with most LSUK employees I only worked with the company a short while. I worked with a fine bunch of people and indeed a fine business, I enjoyed every minute of it and very proud, afterall it was part of Lucas! I can´t help to notice that most people are slating ECP for what they did to us, yes it was appaling but in my opinion are management was that great either. If they managed us in such away we could have evolved into a national leader, a winner. It was clear from a branch perspective what needed to be done! but hey although I feel very sad to have been made redundant it´s happened now. I hope everybody can get new jobs but as alot of you will agree it´s quite hard with all this doom and gloom around us!
I thought LSUK employees were honourable and hard working.
From what I have read from these Blog threads I have questioned this, I and others NATIONWIDE will not employee LSUK staff based purely on these Blogs.
Sorry Gentlemen (and Ladies), if this is what you are doing, whats stopping you doing this when you are working for us and you are unhappy about an issue.
Don’t ruin it for what used to be a good name!
I agree.
Let’s just move on.
I bet if someone looked into any of our lives they would find stories to write about.
Which one of us is truly righteous, 'Jesus', and look what we did to him
“Crucify him!”
Plymouth Branch was always brilliant to me as a customer ! Good Luck in the future.
i have today received a letter from Grant Thornton saying I now have to claim for westfield eventhough it was deducted from my wages is wasnt paid to Westfield.....
in my area my former staff worked extremely hard to build good relationships with customers, something which could easily be undone by ECP´s recent actions regarding LSUK
