Jaguar Land Rover's Halewood plant to close for one week

Jaguar Land Rover's Merseyside Halewood plant will close for one week in October as Tata moves to decrease production during difficult worldwide conditions for car buying.
The X-Type and Freelander are manufactured at the factory, which joins JLR's other plants in Castle Bromwich and Solihull in reducing output until the end of 2008.
Halewood will close during school half-term in late October, cutting production by around 2,000 units.
The move comes despite impressive sales figures from both Jaguar and Land Rover. Jaguar's year-to-date sales figures suggest a sizeable leap over 2007's 54,000 thanks to the arrival of the new XF sports saloon.
Land Rover is predicting strong sales of around 200,000, despite pressure from the rising cost of running high-end cars.
