The outgoing Mazda6 - available with big savings
Published: 22 November 2007
Even the most enduring cars have their time. Indeed the retro Jaguar S-Type and workhorse Vauxhall Vectra are in the process of being quietly put out to pasture at the moment, to be replaced with all-new shiny models that put some clear water between themselves and the older models.
While old and tired models make way for new blood, others are simply refreshed with a few styling tweaks and perhaps a new engine or gearbox.
The latter example are largely similar to the outgoing models, but brought up to date, like Michael Jackson in the 80s. New versions of the Ford Focus, Audi A4, Range Rover Sport and Honda Jazz are on their way next year and there´ll be plenty more besides.
The great news for the consumer is that the outgoing models often hang around as the new model´s rolled out, with dealers keen to shift them.
This means that there are great savings available on these outgoing models - essentially brand new cars.
We´ll give you a heads-up on what models to look out for and suggest some great deals on these cars from out sister-site Askaprice.com. And if you can´t find the deal you want Askaprice can also generate free multiple quotes on any new car.
New Ford Focus
The new Focus is due out in January with prices starting from £12K for entry-level models. The new Focus features some modest styling tweaks, EasyFuel system to prevent misfuelling and an optional dual-ckutch gearbox.
Outgoing Ford Focus
Renowned as the absolute benchmark for hatchbacks, the Focus reinvented the segment - especially in terms of drivability. As a result all generations are cars to be reckoned with.
Askaprice has a Personal Contract Purchase offer on the outgoing 1.8 Zetec 5-door Ford Focus for £11,995 - a saving of £4900 on the list price.

New Vauxhall Insignia
Vauxhall has decided to ditch the Vectra name in favour of something a little more dynamic for its replacement, the Insignia.
Having seen the strides Ford has taken with the new Mondeo, Vauxhall will be aiming similarly high with its new saloon with improved styling and driving dynamics being the aim. Multimedia features inside will also be added.
Outgoing Vauxhall Vectra
While the Vectra was the equal of the competing cars in its segment, Vauxhall´s faithful saloon has suffered from a poor reputation on the basis that it´s workmanlike.
Read any review of the Vectra, however, and you´ll find that no-one in the industry - Clarkson aside - regards them as anything but fine cars, especially where comfort and refinement are concerned.
We have a 1.9-litre CDTi Exclusiv 5-door Vauxhall Vectra for £11,715 - a massive saving of £4,160 on the list price.

The new Mazda is seen as a big step up for Mazda, with the new Ford Mondeo now in its sights with the release of the its new saloon.
The styling has been updated, including LED tail-lamps, and it´s larger with enough space for four large adults.
Outgoing Mazda6
Having recently been named as the Used Car of the Year by What Car? the outgoing Mazda 6 is no slouch and was lauded for its drivability, value, reliability and desirability.
We have an offer on the outgoing 2.0d TS 5-door Mazda6 for £13,995 - £2,585 less than the list price.

New Audi A4 model
The new Audi A4 will sit on the longest wheelbase in its class, and as such should offer unparalleled interior space.
Next to a new dynamic steering system, updated multitronic CTV gearbox and multi-media satnav system, the new A4 will be gunning for the BMW 3-Series and Merc C-Class.
Outgoing A4
Perception was that the outgoing A4 was a hair´s breadth behind the BMW/Mercedes competitors, but not by much. Strong overall quality, solid residual values and reliable engines make the A4 a must-consider in its class.
We have an offer on the 4-litre Audi S4 Quattro for £33,490 - a £4K saving on list price.

New Jaguar XF
The new Jaguar XF was winning awards a full year before it was due to go on sale, with widespread excitement that Jag had dropped its fascination with retro styling.
The XF carries over elements of the new S-Type in the shape of its strong engines and great chassis, but styling brings it firmly up-to-date and a stiff competitor for the Germans.
Outgoing Jaguar S-Type
Always something of a curio, the S-Type featured a strange retro styling that was either loved or loathed. Aside from its debatable looks the S-Type is sheer class, with great driving manners and high interior quality - it´s no coincidence that Clarkson chose the S-Type to try and break the 10-minute barrier at the Nurburgring.
We have a Business Contract Hire on the 2.7d V6 Spirit 4-door Jaguar S- Type for £409 per month.

New Honda Jazz model
Honda´s supermini MPV will be updated with more interior space, new engines and upgraded cabin quality. Honda promises inproved drivability and ride quality when it goes on sale from around £10,000 on March 2008.
Outgoing Honda Jazz
The outgoing Jazz is a top all-rounder in its class, with more space than your average supermini. As our reviewer below says, the Jazz is difficult to fault and we´ve got a Business Contract Hire offer on the 1.2 i-DSI S 5- door Honda Jazz for £159 per month.

New Range Rover Sport
The new Range Rover Sport will celebrate Land Rover´s 60th birthday with a refreshed edition of the sporty off-roader with some rear styling tweaks and an uprated interior. There´s also rumours of a new 5.0-litre supercharged V8, though details beyond that are sketchy, but expect the new Rangey Sport to go on sale in Summer 2008 from £36K.
Outgoing Range Rover Sport
The outgoing model is something of a monster, especially the 4.2-litre supercharged V8. It´ll offer a better driving experience than the vanilla Rangey or Discovery as the Range Rover Sport is designed for serious driving and off-roading. We have an offer on the 2.7-litre TDV6 HSE 5-door Auto Range Rover Sport at £46,495 - a saving of £3,860.

New Honda Accord
The New Accord is due out in Summer 2008 with a serious restyle, if the Tourer concept is anything to go by. Bolder styling, a choice of Honda´s famously reliable petrol and diesel engines and an interior to rvial the German premiums should be expected.
Outgoing Honda Accord
The outgoing Accord was famous for breathing down the necks of the premium saloons without getting any of the credit. A very sharp drive and strong engines sets the outgoing model apart from the cars in notionally competes with.
We have a 2.0-litre i-VTEC SE 4-door Honda Accord available at £279 per month on Business Contract hire.

New Citroen C5
Citroen´s new C5 startled industry bods with its sharp styling and inflections of BMW´s 3-Series and the new Mondeo while retaining its traditional concave rear window.
Replacing the fancy Hydractive suspension and adding new engines should sharpen up the C5´s driving manners, while cruise control, seven airbags and electric parking brake will be standard.
Prices are expected to start from £15,500 when the new C5 goes on sale in May 2008.
Outgoing Citroen C5
Another overlooked saloon, the outgoing C5 is a massive car for not a great deal of money.
It may not be the best drive in the class but it´ll be comfortable and refined for motorway cruising. Good prices and huge storage space make for an even more attractive package.
We don´t have any offers on the outgoing C5 but you can request up to five free quotes for this model from Askaprice.com

New Mercedes C-Class Estate
The new C-Class Estate is due in late-Summer 2008 from an estimated £27K.
Setting the bar for premium estates the new C-Class load-lugger will clear the 62mph sprint in under nine seconds, return an official 45mpg on the combined cycle and benefit from uprated engines and specification.
Outgoing Mercedes C-Class Estate
Practical, comfortable, strong engines and a good drive - the outgoing C-Class Estate is a good all-rounder. It ´s looking a little long in the tooth now but Mercedes knows how to make cars so it´ll more than hold its own.
