Chrysler PT Cruiser Convertible
The PT Cruiser’s love-em-or-hate-em looks are sure to divide opinion, but you can be assured of having a fairly unique car on the road if you plump for this retro American oddity.
Good levels of kit and a strong engine are plus points.

Daihatsu Copen
Famously lambasted by Clarkson for looking a bit ‘ginger beer’ the Copen is actually a snazzy little runaround with a punchy engine.
Handling is pretty good too, and the Copen’s something of a head-turner.

Ford took their time getting round to a Focus CC, but the wait was worth it. Refined, practical, well equipped and the roof is easy to use.
Handling is excellent when the roof is up and styling is understated but good-looking.

Probably one of the best-handling cabriolets on the market, at an incredible price. The 2-litre engine is worth plumping for if you’re buying an MX-5 to really put the fun into driving.

MINI Convertible
Engine is a bit bonkers and it drives superbly. Certainly not a car for transporting the family, inlaws and dog around in, but if you know what you want and the MINI fits the bill there’s no reason not to go for it.

Peugeot 307 CC
A stylish and pleasant drive, the 307 ticks all of the boxes for a reasonably-priced all-round decent coupe- cabriolet. Lots of safety kit and standard trim includes alloys, climate control and a CD player.

Renault Megane CC
No genuine sports car performance but a good cruiser with plenty of extra kit and folding glass roof. Good kit at higher specs but the entry level trim has, inexplicably, a cassette player, so is to be avoided.

An indisputably girly car, the Tigra is basically a Corsa with the roof cut off. Handling is decent and the petrol engines are zippy and the stylish, if rather cute, design is eye-catching.
